The 1/2 Rupee silver coin featuring George VI of British India from the year 1940 struck at Bombay Mint. NGC has graded this 1/2 Rupee coin with grading scale as MS 62 i.e. Uncirculated condition.

George VI was King of the United Kingdom and the Dominions of the British Commonwealth from 11 December 1936 until his death in 1952. He was concurrently the last emperor of India until August 1947, when the British Raj was dissolved.

This 1/2 Rupee coin is made of 50% silver weighing 5.83 grams and 24 mm diameter with reeded edge. KM#550a is the reference of the coin as per Standard catalogue of World coins by Krause Publications.

The obverse side of the coin has the large second crowned bust of King George VI facing left with small rim decoration "GEORGE IV KING EMPEROR". At the reverse side, Within the circle, the date divides the legend in English & Persian. Outside circle, a wreath made of roses, thistle, shamrock leaves, and lotus flowers, all within a toothed border. The Bombay mintmark is visible as Dot or Diamond at the reverse side.
