Texstar was formed on February 13, 1991 and aired mostly news and sports programming. The statewide network originally consisted of KATX 10 in Amarillo, KWTX 15 in Wichita Falls, XTXS 27 (now XFNL) in Nuevo Laredo, KXTN 35 in San Antonio, KDTX (now KSTR) 49 in Dallas, KHST 53 in Houston, KBNA 66 in El Paso, KTXM 9 in McAllen and KCTX 11 in Corpus Christi. The network was bought by Firey Broadcasting in 1998 and in 2000, KDTX became KSTR "K-Star", XTXS became XXXX "The X", KXTN became "KXTN35; Tejano & Proud". In 2003, Texstar got a new logo. In 2006, they reverted to the old one. In 2008, Texstar shut down.
