Two weeks ago I finally got to see the Mario movie with friends I made from my recent D&D Cruise. I had heard this well before, but I didn't want to cover it unless I'd seen the movie first. The movie was awesome and I'm so happy after all this time and all the memes around it's cast, it stuck the landing very well.
Jack Black has been a big influence on me since childhood since I've spent lots of time learning his acoustic stuff from Tenacious D and still quote Pick of Destiny all the time. Emulating his voice however, would be an impossible task. I've actually found in recording other songs I'll do a very Jack Black staccato sound so I leaned into that, while doing my own thing for other parts. This in no way was supposed to be a recreation, though I wonder if this is how the song would have sounded in his head with acoustic guitar and big guitar solos.
I'm really happy with how it turned out! I know I haven't been consistent with uploads. I've been really busy with life events, and I'm hoping I can get back to weekly videos soon, but unfortunately it's not looking possible until at least June. Hope these last few videos can keep you entertained for a while. Thanks for listening!
