"The Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) presents an information session on the African American Civil Rights Network (AACRN), a National Park Service program that encompasses properties, facilities, and interpretive programs, all of which present a comprehensive narrative of the people, places, and events associated with African American Civil Rights movement in the United States. Some of these sites may be familiar, while others shed light on a lesser-known figure or event consequential to the movement from local, regional, and national perspectives. AACRN has over 150 members across 28 states. The session also included a presentation from the American World War II Heritage City Program (AWWIIHC) on how to nominate a city or county as a World War II Heritage City. AWWIIHC recognizes cities, counties, and places of the United States' involvement in World War II.
The partnership between ASALH and AACRN began in 2019. During the 104th Annual Meeting and Conference in Charleston, SC, AACRN unveiled its official program logo, which later evolved into ASALH becoming a member and partner organization that facilitates Network cooperation with the ASALH community. The information session was conducted by Ms. Ashley Adams, AACRN National Coordinator, Dr. Emily Button Kambic, Bureau Historian and National Coordinator for American World War II Heritage City Program, and Mr. Jason Ockrassa, Historian for American World War II Heritage City Program."
