Next to your bike, the most essential piece of riding gear arguably is what's going to keep you safe in the event of an accident. Brain buckets, skid lids- call 'em what you like, helmets are pretty damn important regardless of what or where you ride. As you might expect, all bike-specific helmets have to pass CPSC certification to ensure that they will do their job in the event of a worst-case scenario, but if they all effectively do the same job, it's understandable that some folks get sticker-shocked when they see helmets priced over $100. What makes high-end helmets so special?
