Improvement of the Panther 1 primary fight tank started in 1956 and took around 10 a long time. The primary trials started in 1961. Vehicles entered benefit with the Bundeswehr in 1965. Generation ceased in 1984, and it was supplanted by the Panther 2. In any case, the Leopard 1 was an awfully fruitful plan. Over 4 000 of these MBTs were built in Germany. Another 720 were license-produced in Italy. In spite of its age, the Panther 1 is still in benefit with a number of send out administrators.
