This is a video of the install of a subway tile kitchen backsplash. The video shows everything from basic layout, setting the tile, grout and silicone caulk.
I show how I find the lowest and highest tile in the bottom row of tile in order to make sure the row is perfectly level. I demonstrate how to cut tile on a scribe and crack tile cutter and a tile wet saw. In this video I show my technique for; cutting tile around outlets, and how to reverse the tile to insure the cuts terminate on the outside of the field, masking the countertop, grouting and taping your caulk lines for a laser sharp finish.
I try to show that tiling a kitchen backsplash isn't too difficult. All said and done: setting this 24sf tile backsplash took about 8 hours to set, two hours to grout and about an hour to caulk. This could be an easy weekend project for the DIYer.
Please leave comments! If there's something I could be doing to differently I'd love to hear from YOU!
If interested; I use a Pearl P4 7" turbomesh blade on my wetsaw and a Rubi turbomesh blade on my 4" grinder. AWESOME blades!
