From RoR onwards, each skill has its own purpose:
Obsidian Barrier (Burst) increases critical dmg onwards;
Fury of the Wild Tempest charges Relic Gauge while casting Forsaken Relic;
Nova Blast excludes at max Relic Gauge right after Forsaken Relic;
Awakened Relic casts during Nova Blast’s animation;
Relic Unbound (Burst) cancels Nova Blast’s animation so that you can start dpm earlier.

Note: this build is indeed much better at RoR lvl5.
