Katharine Adeney is a professor of politics and the director of the University of Nottingham’s Asia Research Institute in the UK. Her research interests include elections and democracy in South Asia, ethnic conflict regulation, and the politics of federal states.
Filippo Boni is a lecturer in politics and international studies at The Open University in the UK and a research fellow in the European Research Council–funded project REDEFINE, looking at China’s rise and its implications for global development. He is interested in the politics of Chinese investments in South Asia and Europe, as well as in the international relations of South Asia, particularly in bilateral ties between Pakistan and China and the Belt and Road Initiative.
Muhammad Tayyab Safdar is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Politics and the East Asia Center at the University of Virginia. Prior to joining the University of Virginia, he was a Newton Trust postdoctoral fellow at the University of Cambridge. His research looks at the political and economic effects of China’s increasing investment in countries that are part of the Belt and Road Initiative.
