John Dehls, Geological Survey of Norway (NGU): The Earth’s surface is constantly changing. By use of radar measurements from satellite, called radar interferometry or InSAR, we are able to map deformation in the landscape, for example, subsidence in cities and movements in unstable rock slopes. The Geological Survey of Norway, The Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate and the Norwegian Space Centre has launched the first free and open, nationwide, webbased mapping service for InSAR data. The service makes InSAR data for entire Norway available, further expanding to Sweden and other countries in Europe.
