In this tutorial, we will discuss how Numerical relays qualitatively and dimensionally change the Protection scenario of Protection of Transmission Lines using Distance Relays.
The advent of numerical relays has dimensionally changed the quality of protection of equipment of power systems. The protection is more reliable, faster and more accurate. The entry of numerical relays in the protection of the power system has made the power system available for much more time than earlier days. Hence, obviously, more revenue to the electricity company and better comfort and earning to consumers. In this series, we will discuss how this qualitative and dimensional difference in protection is brought into modern power system protection.
About Author:
Prof B Oza is associated with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Institute of Technology, Nirma University as an Adjunct Professor. He received his BE degree and ME degree in Electrical Engineering from S P University in 1972 and 1982 respectively. He has a total teaching experience of more than 30 years.
Apart from teaching, he has vast industrial experience. He has been invited by reputed institutes, industries to conduct the workshops/lecture series. He has written four books and has authored many national and international conference papers.
