The fish finder rig. The name tells you everything you need to know about this salt water rig. The fish finder rig is one of the best beach fishing rigs, especially if you are surf fishing or using live bait. Using the fish finder rig at the beach allows you to pretty much target any species you are likely to catch from the surf/beach (or in a boat for that matter).
Learning how to tie the fish finder rig will give you a very versatile tool in your fishing toolbox. The idea behind the fish finder rig is that it gets the bait to the bottom where (most of) the fish are. When a fish takes the bait the slack in the fish finder rig will allow them to run with it without feeling any tension. By the time the fish realizes something is wrong; it's usually too late and they've already hooked themselves (you'll generally want to use a circle hook with this rig).
The versatility of the fish finder rig makes it one of the best beach fishing rigs as you can catch anything from flounder and red drum to pompano and kingfish (whiting) with it. So next time you are surf fishing give the fish finder rig a try!
Sinkers: [ Ссылка ] & [ Ссылка ]
This provides a variety pack of egg sinkers and other sinkers, so you can vary how much weight you need. I use about an ounce where I fish, but based on different currents you may want more or less weight.
Leader Line: [ Ссылка ]
50 lb mono is my go to for leader line when catfishing in rivers. I generally tie about a 5 - 6 foot leader off my main line, whatever is necessary to get that bait right above the bottom.
Hooks: [ Ссылка ]
I pretty much exclusively use circle hooks when catfishing with either live or cut bait. Don't need to set the hook hard, just add tension and the fish will hook itself.
Swivels: [ Ссылка ]
Pick the right swivel based on what size fish you are going after. There are helpful swivel guides if you google them and go to images.
Beads: [ Ссылка ]
A bead is necessary so the weight does not rub on the knot attaching the swivel.
Favorite Catfishing Rod & Reels: [ Ссылка ], [ Ссылка ], & [ Ссылка ]
If you are just getting into catfishing here are some great options! The Penn Fierce or Battle II is my go to rod for catfishing. In order to catch big fish you are going to need at least a 6000 size rod and reel. It's also super versatile and I often use it when I go fishing inshore in saltwater. Catches just about everything!
Cast Net: [ Ссылка ]
I like the 5 foot cast nets. Not too big that you can't throw it in confined situations but wide enough to increase your chances of catching fish.
Landing Net: [ Ссылка ]
Once you get the catfish out of the hole and to the surface a landing net is very useful to throw the fish in. Once they get to the surface they often roll around a lot, so having a net to put them in decreases the chance you miss them.
GoPro: [ Ссылка ]
Recently upgraded to the GoPro Hero 7 Black - love the quality and built in movement stabilization.

learn how to tie the fishfinder rig it's
one of the best rigs to use whenever
using cut bait or even live bait the
fish take the bait without feeling the
weight and then you can just hook them
up to tie fish finder rig you're gonna
need a certain look a bead a barrel
swivel a weight and I like to use this
little line guider and then you're also
going to need one to two feet of leader
so first you're gonna want to put the
weight on first you put the weight on
your mainline you just put it right
through the hole or if you don't have
this thing you just put it right through
the hole of the weight do that first and
then you put the bead on the bead is to
protect the weight from rubbing up
against the knot you're gonna tie on the
barrel swivel to like decrease abrasion
and then hopefully make your line
stronger so it's a tie on the barrel
school I like to use the improved clinch
knot you don't know how it's had that
video go check out the other one I
posted there you go it's all nice and
tight boom and then on this end I just
do the same thing I got I got 50 pound
leader and I'm working with about 20
pound main line the real I'm actually
tying this stuff on we just cleaned it
up got it all oiled so go check that
video out if you need information on how
to upkeep your reels and rods and make
them make them a lot more smoother and
help you get more fish because over time
the drag can get a little shaky and then
the line gets peeled out and then
there's more attention on the line than
