Suffering from addiction? José gives a heartfelt talk on how he managed to break the loop of addiction and what we can learn from his experience.
José Mari Bayuga is a student from Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong. Coming from Philippines, he used to be the youth camp director for the summer national youth camp of SOS children’s villages and President of student council in his former school, BTS. He is passionate in trail running, hip-hop dancing and singing. Yet unknown by many, at the age of 5, Jose was brought to SOS village, an organization taking care of abandoned, destitute and orphaned children requiring family-based child care. Changing from village life to a youth facility, Jose got exposed to different people with various addictions. He eventually got addicted himself; to computer games, pornography, smoking, alcohol, and even tried marijuana several times. After years getting into the cycle of re-addiction and quitting, he found a way to break the loop of addiction and is now dedicated to advocate the approaches to control one’s addictions with his experience.
