Speaker 1: Today in our 2009 Kia Sedona, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Draw-Tite Class III Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 75421.This is what our hitch looks like when it's installed. You can see the cross tube is visible but it does have a rounded shape so it fits with the contour of the vehicle. It's nice and tucked in back behind the bumper fascia so you're not going to worry about hitting your legs or your shins on it when you're loading and unloading the vehicle. It's going to be a class three. It's going to be 2" x 2". The front hole here is going to be your hitch pin hole. It's going to be 5/8 in diameter.
This back hole here is going to be for a J-Pin stabilization device only. What the J-Pin stabilization device does, it takes all the shake and rattle out of any of your hitch mount accessories. You can see it has a nice reinforced collar to give a little extra stability on your receiver tube. It's going to have plate style safety chain rings. You can see they have plenty of room for different sized safety chain hooks. It's also going to have a welded-on plate for any of your wiring accessories for trailer wiring. Going to have a max tongue weight of 350 pounds, which is the downward pressure on the inside of the receiver tube.
You're going to have a max trailer weight of 3,500 pounds, which is the trailer plus the load included. You can use weight distribution with this hitch. Your tongue weight's going to go up to 400 pounds. And your trailer weight's going to go up to 4,000 pounds. Now I do recommend checking your owner's manual to make sure your vehicle can withstand that amount of weight and you're going to want to pick the lowest number between the hitch and the vehicle. Now we will give you a couple measurements to help you in deciding on any hitch mount accessories you may need such as a bike rack, ball mount or cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer most part of the bumper will be about 3".
From the ground to the top innermost part of the receiver tube will be about 11 1/2" inches. Now it's a good idea to get a raised shank for better ground clearance. Now let's show you how to get this installed. First thing we need to do is we need to remove our exhaust from our exhaust hangers. You're going to have one here and right on the other side of the axle you'll have another one. We're going to spray a little bit of lubrication on them. We'll take a pry bar, slowly start to pull it off there.
We'll do the same thing with this one. What we want, is we want access to these three well nuts, and you're going to have three on one side, three on the other side of the vehicle.Next, you'll take some lubricant, you'll spray it up in the holes. We're going to take a, just a pipe brush or toothbrush, clean them up. Depending on how old the vehicle is, you may have to tap them out, which it looks like we're probably going to have to do here. We'll take a 12mm x 1.25, slowly start to screw this up into the hole so we can clean off the threads. Next, we'll go ahead and spray some more lubricant up in there. Then you want to take one of your bolts in your kit, you're going to want to thread it in to make sure that it's going to go in nice and easy. Once you do that you're going to repeat that on the five remaining holes.Next, we'll take our hitch and over here on our passenger side we're going to slide it up onto our exhaust like this and we're just going to let our exhaust hold it while we put this side in. We're going to take one of our bolts, conical tooth-washer, make sure that the teeth are facing up toward the hitch. I'll hand-thread one in for now just to hold my hitch in place while I get the rest of my hardware in.I'll put one in on the other side over here. Next, take a 3/4" socket and tighten all of our hardware down. We'll torque everything down to specifications in the instructions. You're going to repeat that for all remaining hardware.Next we'll put our exhaust back into place. We're going to start toward the front of the vehicle and move our way to the back. That'll do it to look at, an installation on a Draw-Tite Class III Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 75421 on our 2009 Kia Sedona.
