Bob Williams was 18 years old when he enlisted in the U.S. Army in the summer of 1942. Intrigued by a recruiting poster depicting a paratrooper--then a new kind of infantry solder--he volunteered for the paratroops, serving in the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, made famous by the 2001 television miniseries "Band of Brothers." In this clip from his November 16, 2003 interview, he describes his first combat jump on D-Day, June 6th, 1944.
