yay a cover!! this time it is macaron by atols, i first heard this song a few weeks ago and absolutely fell in love with it, its so unique and is also a little bit mysterious as well. i also love macarons sooo :) and i love that this song is about macarons because like. imagine making a song about anything in the world and you can make it all about macarons. legend move
i feel like there are two different sides to this song, one of them is the simple 'mmm macarons' side of things, which you can get if you interpret the lyrics literally. but ALSO i feel like there is a darker, more sinister side to it as well? i love the song because its quite cryptic and there are so many ways to interpret it. and thats why i felt like renri would be really good for this song, she has a cute voice and gorgeous design (the song also mentions frilly dresses like a macaron and renri wears a frilly dress lol) but i wanted the whispery soft voice to represent both sides of this song, to be like 'mmm macarons so sweet and tasty' and also have that darker underlying tone to it as well :) i LOVE renri, her voicebanks are so high quality (though i feel like this particular voicebank has a lot of uneven envelopes so its quite hard to mix) but like how can you not look at that picture and not go 'thats a bean right there'... i really hope to do some more covers with her in the future!
however i do like the mixing i did for this cover, i especially like the harmonies on the 'm-a-c-a-r-o-n' bit because they sound so much like the original! especially as i created this midi from scratch :) if you want the midi i would be happy to provide it, i am a little bit more hesitant to provide usts though because they were made on synth and ive heard most synth usts dont work with normal utau editors :(((
