FTDI Chip's Gavin Moore demonstrates live at Electronica 2012 how the FT311D Android Host IC can be used to allow an Android tablet to control a robot arm.
The FTDI Chip robotic arm application has been developed to demonstrate the ability of the FT311D IC to bridge from an Android tablet with a USB peripheral port to peripheral hardware. The application makes use of the Android Open Accessory Mode whereby the master processor (tablet) is the USB peripheral and the hardware which would normally be considered as a peripheral is the USB host.
