In this episode I am talking all about Vehicle to Grid (V2G). I was lucky to be chosen for the new trial of #V2G being rolled out by OVO Energy in the U.K. Vehicles to grid (V2G) and vehicle to home (V2H) are an innovative way of allowing the battery in electric car to act as a repository for electric charge. During off-peak hours overnight the car charges on electricity when it is less in demand, cheaper and generally greener.

However at times of peak demand the battery the car is able to re-supply electricity back to the home and export any excess to the grid. This can be helpful in helping to stabilise the grid and reduced demand on the grid at times of high demand.

In this way contrary to the naysayers who suggested electric cars are going to be a big drain on the grid, this is a way in which electric cars can actually be helpful to grid by providing chargeback to the grid during peak hours.

A big thank you to OVO Energy for including me in the vehicle degree trial. Since recording this video two years later I have now completed the trawl and I am pleased to say that over energy were kind enough to allow me to keep the unit for free and you continue to use it.
