The United Kingdom's contribution to the London Design Biennale references a national obsession: the weather. London-based designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby have worked alongside the Victoria & Albert Museum to respond to the Biennale theme of utopia, and have created Forecast - a kinetic piece that was installed in the magnificent courtyard of Somerset House.
Barber & Osgerby , designers of the torch for the 2012 London Olympics, are among the UK's most successful design practices. Their studio is renowned for challenging the boundaries between art, architecture and design.
London Design Biennale is the first edition which brings 37 countries to the world's design capital. Nations from six continents present newly commissioned works that explore the theme, Utopia by Design, curated by the leading museums and design organisations of the world.
