On October 30, 2023, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a black vehicle possibly tied to thefts in Hobe Sound, FL. Detectives spotted it driving recklessly before it left a Walmart. The sheriff’s aviation unit then discreetly monitored the vehicle's movements as it entered another Walmart. Two teenage passengers were dropped off, and were caught attempting to buy gift cards with multiple credit cards, hinting at fraud. As law enforcement closed in, both teens ran for their lives, but their freedom was short-lived. A search of the vehicle uncovered stolen items, including wallets, credit cards and gift cards.
