STORYLINE:
Clashes broke out in Turkey's mainly Kurdish southeastern city of Diyarbakir on Saturday.
Police deployed water cannons and tear gas to disperse stone-throwing demonstrators.
Thousands gathered to protest ongoing military operations and a 24-hour curfew in the city's historic Sur district, imposed in December.
Turkish security forces have embarked on large-scale operations to root out Kurdish militants and imposed round-the-clock curfews in several municipalities.
A two-and-a-half year peace process between Turkey's government and the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, broke down in July, reviving three decades of conflict that has cost more than 40,000 lives.
