The runaway electrons (RE) pose a serious threat to large tokamaks, however the experimental teams on the tokamaks all over the wold work hard in order to understand this threat and mitigate it. The Czech tokamak COMPASS turns out to be a great testbed for investigation of runaway electron physics. This video shows generation of RE beam by introducing Argon into the low density plasma and subsequent injection of graphite pellet. Before Argon injection also resonant magnetic perturbations were applied to influence the RE beam dynamics.
