The Kyievan Rus Monument is a large bronze statue located in Kiev, the capital city of Ukraine. It was unveiled on May 21, 1982, to commemorate the 1500th anniversary of the founding of Kiev and the ancient state of Kievan Rus.
The monument depicts the legendary founders of Kievan Rus, the Varangian brothers Kyi, Schek, and Khoryv, and their sister Lybid, who according to legend founded the city of Kiev in the 5th century. The statue stands on a pedestal made of white Ukrainian marble, which is decorated with reliefs depicting scenes from the history of Kievan Rus.
