My first ever birch bark basket! And the best part? All the bark was harvested/sourced from from dead trees laying around!
We choose to only harvest birch bark from dead trees because we do not feel it is necessary, or worth it, to risk hurting the live ones. Fortunately for us (Or unfortunately!) there are plenty of downed paper birch trees on our Adirondack homestead to collect from so we have plenty of bark for future baskets!

We are a middle aged, DIY couple building a debt-free earth sheltered house and a sustainable homestead in the Adirondack Park of New York State for our retirement in a few years! Check out our 'about' page link above for more information!
