Tesla Model 2: What New Battery Technology?
Electric future electric vehicle sales in the US are slugging. Many shoppers say they want lower prices batteries that last longer and a reliable charging network
How long are you going to wait to be able to charge your car?
I mean to be honest, with you you don't really have a lot of choice the infrastructure is not very good
That’s the challenge with the US consumer right now that stops them from buying an EV. However, this is set to change soon, as the new Tesla Model 2 Redwood is poised to hit the market with game-changing battery technology that offers an impressive range while simultaneously keeping costs low. In today’s episode, let’s delve into the very details of this, exploring how it works and why it’s such an innovation. In the end, we’ll also discuss a recently released battery and evaluate whether it has the potential to reshape the market, so stay tuned.
Tesla Model 2: What New Battery Technology?
Old name, new battery
Initial specifications leaks suggested that the Model 2 would be equipped with a 53-kilowatt-hour battery sourced from BYD, specifically their Blade Battery. This aligns with Tesla's Master Plan Part 3, as outlined on page 22, where a compact car model is intended to feature a 53-kilowatt-hour LFP battery pack. Considering that the Model 2 is a smaller car based on the design of the Model 3 and Y, this choice appears logical.
Tesla Model 2: What New Battery Technology?
Previously, the BYD Blade battery found its place in the rear-wheel-drive configuration of the Model Y produced at the Berlin Gigafactory. With a capacity of 55 kilowatt-hours, it offers a range of 440 kilometers (273 miles) and can sustain a peak charging rate of 172 kilowatts until reaching 50% charge. As depicted in the graph, its charging prowess surpasses that of CATL cells. Hence, should the Model 2 adopt this battery, similar performance can be anticipated, given the nearly identical battery capacities.
