Karen Jacobsen was born in Mackay, Queensland, Australia. She had a passion for music since she was a child and dreamed of moving to America to pursue a singing career. She studied at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and then moved to Sydney where she worked as a jingle singer and voice-over artist.

In 2002, she auditioned for a text-to-speech company that was looking for an Australian female voice for their software. She recorded about 50 hours of scripts in a studio, reading numbers, letters, sentences and phrases. She didn't know at the time that her voice would be used for GPS devices and later for Google Maps.

Her voice became one of the most popular and recognizable voices in the world, guiding millions of drivers and pedestrians every day. She has also lent her voice to other products such as Siri, Delta Airlines, Garmin and TomTom.

Karen Jacobsen is not only a voice-over artist but also a singer-songwriter who has released mcseveral albums and performed around the world. She is also a motivational speaker who inspires people to follow their dreams and recalculates their lives when they face challenges or detours.
