The 12479/12480 Suryanagri Express is a superfast train running between the Indian cities of Jodhpur and Bandra Terminus, Mumbai. It initially plied between Jodhpur and Ahmedabad as the 4845/46 Suryanagri Express. In the 2002/03 railway budget its operation was extended to Bandra Terminus, Mumbai for four days a week. Later it became a daily train between Jodhpur and Bandra Terminus and was renumbered to 12479/12480.
It operates as train number 12479 from Jodhpur to Bandra Terminus and as train number 12480 in the reverse direction.
The 12479 Jodhpur - Bandra Terminus Suryanagri Express covers a distance of 935 kilometers in 16 hours 50 mins (55.54 km/hr) and in 17 hours 00 mins as the 12480 Bandra Terminus - Jodhpur Suryanagri Express (55.00 km/hr).
As the average speed of the train is more than 55 km/h (34 mph), the fare includes a superfast surcharge.
The 12479/80 Jodhpur - Bandra Terminus Suryanagri Express runs from Jodhpur Junction via Marwar Junction, Palanpur Junction, Ahmedabad Junction, Vadodara Junction, Surat to Bandra Terminus and vice versa.
Train shares its rake with 12461/12462 Delhi - Jodhpur Mandore Superfast Express.
Prior to the Western Railway switching to the AC traction, the 12479/12480 Suryanagri Express would be hauled by a WCAM 1 or WCAM 2/2P engine of Valsad shed from Bandra Terminus up to the Ahmedabad Junction after which it would get a WDP 4 from the Bhagat Ki Kothi shed until Jodhpur.
Since the Western Railway switched over to AC traction in February 2012, the 12479/12480 Suryanagri Express is now hauled by a WAP 5 or WAP 4 or WAP 7 from the Vadodara shed until Ahmedabad Junction after which a WDP 4 or WDP 4D from the Bhagat Ki Kothi shed takes over and hauls the train to Jodhpur.
The train has standard ICF rakes with a max speed of 110 kmph. The train consist of 24 coaches :

Jodhpur Railway Station has 5 platforms and a total of 6 tracks. To decongest the main Jodhpur station (JU), the suburban station Bhagat Ki Kothi railway station (BGKT) was developed as the second main station for passenger trains.
Jodhpur–Bikaner line was merged with the Western Railway on 5 November 1951. Later North Western Railway came into existence on 1 October 2002. Jodhpur is amongst the top hundred booking stations of Indian Railway.
Mumbai Bandra Terminus (station code: BDTS) also known as Vandre Terminus (in Marathi)is a railway terminus in Bandra from where trains bound for Northern India and Western India are scheduled regularly. It was built in the 1990s to decongest the main Mumbai Central station. It is one of the five railway terminus within Greater Mumbai. The other four terminals are – Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Mumbai Central, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Dadar. It is close to Bandra Kurla Complex, a commercially important part of Mumbai as well as Mumbai Airport.
