Linie 2 von Friedrich Ebert Platz Freiburg im Breisgau Richtung Dorfstraße Freiburg im Breisgau
The Freiburg im Breisgau tram, also known as Stadtbahn or formerly colloquially as Hoobl (Alemannic for plane)[2], is the tram system of the city of Freiburg im Breisgau in Baden-Württemberg. It has existed since 1901, was electrified from the start and is now served by five regular scheduled services as well as the vintage line 7. The expansion of the route network since 1980 is considered an example of the renaissance of the tram in Germany. In 2022, 71 articulated railcars were available for regular service, of which two were high-floor, 36 were partially and 36 were low-floor.[3][4] The transport company responsible is Freiburger Verkehrs AG (VAG), which also operates the Schauinslandbahn and Freiburg city bus services. Almost the entire route network is in Freiburg's urban area, only a few meters of the Gundelfinger Straße turning loop are in the district of the northern neighboring municipality of Gundelfingen. In total, the tram serves 20 of the 28 districts of Freiburg.
