Did you catch this reference in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World? At the end of the film, Scott faces off against Gideon at the Chaos Theatre, where his band is forced to sell out and enter a contract to play for more money. This is actually one of many Nintendo references sprinkled throughout the film. In the Super Nintendo game EarthBound, the Chaos Theater likewise uses a band’s financial woes to force them into a contract, just like Scott’s band.
