***A couple of notes, since I'm sure they'll come up in the comments***
-I save between Elite 4 members. Too luck-based to do it without saving, particularly Champion's Sandslash. Not impossible, but be prepared for hundreds of attempts against Champion, since he doesn't give a reasonable setup like he does with Pidgeot in R/B. This is just a collection of my winning attempts, you can even see I had to cut together a separate save on the Champion - where I reset about 200ish times (most turn 1 versus Sandslash, since it's only a 1/20 chance for him to miss with Fury Swipes against Jynx.
- The rules here are not identical to the JRose R/B run. I am trying to use Gen 1 Pokemon to get this done, with their basic movesets at Lv5 and TMs available in Gen 1. Of course, most of these Pokemon are not catchable at the given level in the Gen 1 games, and yes Moltres wouldn't really be available from other games via trade at this level. That being said, in my first test run I used Ekans and Exeggcute, since Ekans gets wrap and Exeggcute has Hypnosis. I chose Cloyster over Lapras because its Gen 1 starting moveset includes Clamp and Supersonic.
-I assume, like Pokemon Stadium, that we could have multiple Pokemon with the same TM moves. It would be a fun second attempt to do it with only 1 counter TM and only 1 Toxic TM, for example, but that wasn't the goal here.
Ultimately, this is just exploring the types of strats that could work and one way to approach the problem in Gen 1 Yellow.
I wasn't planning to do this one until a commenter suggested it was too hard for me to do the Red/Blue run. Challenge Accepted! But I don't just want to copy another run - trying a new challenge makes this fun!
There are certainly optimizations to make this run better, but for a first attempt, I think we showed some awesome strats and really found where the need for luck exists in this harder run.
