The Toyota Qualis marked the Japanese manufacturer’s very first shot at the Indian passenger car market and was an instant success when it launched in Jan 2000. A more refined, comfortable and better built alternative to the Tata Sumo and Mahindra Armada the Qualis established Toyota’s reputation for quality, durability and reliability. In fact so well built was the Qualis that nearly two decades since it ceased production the Qualis is still a familiar sight on our roads.
On episode 13 of Gone But Not Forgotten editor Sirish Chandran drives the last Toyota Qualis to be delivered in the city of Pune. This is the facelift that was launched in 2003 and continued till the model was discontinued in 2005 to make way for the Innova.
