Filippo Pietrantonio, MD, Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori, Milan, Italy, provides an overview of testing methods for microsatellite instability in patients with gastric and esophagogastric junction (GEJ) cancers. Immunohistochemistry tests and next-generation sequencing (NGS) are both viable options, with the latter being more cost-effective. Dr Pietrantonio additionally highlights other biomarkers of interest including tumor mutational burden. This interview took place at the ESMO World Congress on Gastrointestinal Cancer (WCGIC) 2023 in Barcelona, Spain.
