While parts of the world grapple with second and third waves of Covid-19 infections, Taiwan has been praised for its handling of the coronavirus pandemic. Using data up to May 19, Taiwan reported 7 Covid-19 deaths, according to a global analysis by Supriya Garikipati at the University of Liverpool and Uma Kambhampati at the University of Reading.
The government has stepped up big data analytics, testing, quarantine and contact tracing to fight the coronavirus. Taiwan's Digital Minister Audrey Tang, who's also the youngest cabinet minister, discusses the government's Covid-19 strategy and how technology played a role.
"We trust the people who then takes this trust to trust each other and the pharmacists," says Tang.
