Scars on the legs are common. They are a normal part of how wounds heal, and are not typically a cause for concern. However, some people may wish to treat scars for cosmetic reasons.
Home remedies can reduce the appearance of scars on the legs. These treatments carry minimal risks and may help reduce new or minor scars.
Here are some of the best ways of treating scars and dark spots on legs
1 Apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar works as a natural bleaching agent so it can help get rid of problems like tanning, hyperpigmentation and even sagging of the skin. However, do NOT ever use it in its concentrated form or it can severely damage your skin.
Mix one 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with 4 tablespoons of water to dilute it. Then use a small cotton pad and then apply it to all the spots and scars on your legs. Repeat this process daily and you'll see results soon.
2 Lemons
Much like apple cider vinegar, lemons also work like a natural lightening agent and can actually show results overnight. Take one lemon, cut it into slices and then rub the slices on the affected areas. Leave the juice on for 10 minutes and then rinse it off with warm water. Do apply a soft moisturiser afterwards or your skin will become too dry.
3 Cucumbers
Since we're already trying everything natural, why not give cucumbers a chance as well? They work wonders in getting rid of dark spots, which is why they're also kept on the eyes to help elevate inflammation and puffiness. Take one cucumber, peel it and mash it up. Apply the paste to the affected areas and then wash after a while. You'll notice changes in just a few washes.
4 Sugar Scrub
Another way to fade scares and dark spots is a gentle sugar scrub to help exfoliate all the dirt, grime and dead cells from your skin. Take 2 tablespoons of sugar and mix it with 4 tablespoons of olive oil. Once the scrub is blended properly, take it and rub it on your legs in gentle circular motions. It'll help get rid of the spots while also keeping your skin smooth and soft.
5 Massage with oils
Essential oils can help with scars. Gentle massage techniques on the area around the scar may reduce collagen build-up in the tissues, which can flatten out the scar.
While research is limited, evidence suggests that it may work for some people.
According to the British Skin Foundation, the general advice is to massage the skin for 5 minutes, 3–4 times per day.
Natural oils can make massage easier and may reduce tightness in the scar. Examples of popular oils for scar treatment include:
• coconut oil
• sweet almond oil
• vitamin E oil
6 Aloe vera gel
Aloe vera gel has a long history of use in skin problems.
The soothing, moisturizing gel offers relief for all types of skin conditions such as burns, wounds, skin infections, and yes, Aloe Vera can naturally help support the healing process of scar tissue and potentially even assists in reducing scars
It’s very safe for most people to use, and it may hydrate the skin to reduce scar tightness.
