1. Walk Lara to the very edge of the platform you're on. This positions Lara correctly for the jump.
2. Press and release the 'Look' button to enter 'look' mode (by default: click Right Stick).
3. While in 'look' mode, pull back on the Left Stick (LS) away from the direction Lara is facing. This sets the direction for the backward jump.
4. Keep the LS pulled back, then press the 'Look' button again to exit 'look' mode. Holding the stick ensures Lara is ready to jump in the correct direction.
5. Upon exiting 'look' mode, Lara will automatically perform a perfect jump backward, landing precisely one block away.
MODERN CONTROLS - CONCISE GUIDE
From a standstill, press 'jump' then 'direction' for short jumps, no need for a run-up. For running jumps that start from a standstill, first move the stick in the intended direction, then press 'jump' -- Lara requires momentum from at least two steps for this (a run-up). However, in modern controls you have another option: to simulate a run-up, you can rotate the Left Stick in a tiny circle (within the space of one tile) to quickly gain momentum, then jump at the edge of a ledge. If Lara's already running, hitting 'jump' triggers an immediate jump, using built-up momentum. For camera issues, double-tap the 'Look' button (right stick click) to re-center. Holding 'shoot/grab' (RT) helps Lara grab ledges automatically if she runs off.
