On last weeks video we threw out the idea of doing "The Bluff"... So this week, we went ahead and did it!
We made a 25km(ish) loop in Mapleton National Park, all of which forms part of the Blackall 100 (and Blackall 50) ultramarathon course (though not exactly in the order we did it). Most of this trail is on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk. We've trained here before and have completed the Blackall 50 so this is familiar territory for us. This route starts and finishes at Delicia Road, just near Gheerulla Falls. Car parking available.
It was a gruelling run, taking us just under 4 hours to complete, with approx 1000m of elevation gain - loads of walking up some serious climbs and even though it ended up being only 23km, loads of mental battles!
It's well worth a look - just be prepared. It's remote, no reception in places and track and weather conditions are subject to change. Be well prepared, take plenty of food and water, know where you're going, ideally go with a buddy, and arrange for someone to check in with when you're done.
