(14 Dec 2013) Finnish politician Tarja Cronberg headed a European parliament delegation on a visit to Iran on Saturday.
Cronberg and colleagues met with Iranian lawmakers, including Kazem Jalali, a member of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Relations committee.
It is the first such visit for six years and follows a nuclear deal in November between Iran and the five permanent members of the security council, plus Germany.
Under the terms of the November deal, Iran agreed to cap its uranium enrichment activity in return for an easing of international sanctions.
The sanctions were imposed because the West suspects Iran's nuclear program has a military dimension - a charge the Iranian government denies.
