How Philanthropy Can Respond to What the COVID-19 Pandemic Lays Bare for Girls, Femmes, and Gender Expansive Youth of Color
A Webinar for Funders on
Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at 2pm EST/11am PST
Note: This webinar is specifically for funders.
COVID-19 lays bare the inequities that have long contributed to health, educational, and economic disparities that negatively impact girls, fem(mes), and gender expansive youth of color.Data show that women of color are more likely to be employed in the public and service sectors, to work in sectors now understood as “essential” and that are disproportionately exposed to the pandemic. Additionally, the racialized gender violence that accompanied the policing of Black girls’ behaviors prior to this pandemic has unfortunately continued. Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Middle Eastern and Asian Pacific American girls across the nation describe conditions where their mental health is on the decline, facing an inability to balance mental and emotional wellness, education, and personal safety during this pandemic.
This is a webinar for the G4GC community of funders and grantmakers to learn more about specific ways to increase capacity for culturally- and gender-responsive COVID-19 relief efforts.
