My instruments feature field recordings in different forms, it's a really enjoyable aspect of sound design/instrument design to capture raw sounds and process them into something new, so I thought I would document a quick and simple build for a PIP powered binaural microphone using some easily available parts. I got most of the bits from [ Ссылка ] (no affiliation) with a list below, plus a set of airpod holders from amazon
FL163 9.5 mm Black Heatshrink, 20 cm
FC078 Foam Windshield for 5 mm microphones - Windshield Size : Small
FC035 Primo EM258 6mm Omni Electret Capsule 2 Matched
FL166 Screened Stereo cable with 3.5 mm plug
Air pod holders - [ Ссылка ]
The em258 capsules are very small! Therefore they are tricky to solder. If I did this again I'd create a holder or heatsink of some kind to make it a little easier. Important point communicated by micbooster - don't blow hot air into the mic capsule head on! Also try and find the lowest temperature setting on your soldering iron that is still effective
