The Cabinet, has agreed to the Transport Ministry's decision, to ban controversial motorcycle taxi service provider, Dego Ride.
Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said Dego Ride will not be legalised in Malaysia, as it poses a high risk for passengers.
According to Datuk Seri Liow, the ministry, understand Dego Ride’s intentions in starting the service, but it is not suitable in Malaysia as the government is undertaking a public transportation transformation programme, with the construction of urban train systems like the MRT, LRT and the Monorail.
He added that he is still open to meeting up with the founders of Dego Ride but for the time being, the government is firm in banning the service.
Datuk Seri Liow said so far, no representative of Dego Ride had met up with the Road Transport Department, JPJ after summonses were issued to several motorcycle owners found providing the service.
