Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today I'm gonna take a look at this etrailer 10-foot-long cam buckle tie-down strap. Has a 440-pound working load limit and it is for a quantity of one strap. Now this is a cinching tie-down strap so it'll let you secure kayaks, canoes, or other items to your cargo carrier or roof rack. It uses this zinc-plated cam buckle right here. If we zoom in, you get a closeup.
You can see the cam buckle holds your strap tight over your gear. Basically, what you do is you take the plain end right here of your strap, and then you'll run that underneath and then back through here. And then what you can do is you can press this and that'll allow you to pull the strap as tight as you need it. So if you press that, you can pull it. And then when you let it go, you just pull it until it cinches up and you're all tight and ready to go.
Simple as that. If you notice, on the bottom, it has this rubber pad connected to the strap, and what that's for is that'll go underneath your buckle so when you tighten it down, your buckle doesn't go up against your cargo and damage it. It'll go up against the bumper. Now the strap itself is a one-inch-wide, durable polyester webbing, sort of like a seatbelt material. It is abrasion resistant.
You can see the whole strap is a bright yellow color, makes it very easy to see in the day or the night. And the other nice thing is, if you notice right here, (Velcro ripping) it has this hook-and-loop fastener, which is a strap wrapper. And what that does is it'll hold this extra strap, prevent it from flapping in the wind. So once you get it through there and tight, to how tight you need it, just take your excess strap, put it right over here, put your hook-and-loop fastener down over it, and then just put it down, tighten it, and it'll hold it just like that in place. So it keeps that strap from flapping in the wind.
A few specs on this, this is for a quantity of one ratchet strap. As we mentioned, the width of it is one inches wide. The length, 10 feet long. Now the maximum load or break strength on this strap is 1,320 pounds. The safe working limit will be a third of that, which is 440 pounds. Now, one note I do wanna mention is these tie-down straps and their accessories, they must be chosen according to that safe working load limit. Basically, the weight of your secured cargo must not exceed the combined working load limit of the straps that are being used. So for example, if you're using straps that have a working load limit of 500 pounds each and you're tying down a load that weighs 1,000 pounds, then you're gonna need at least two of those straps to safely secure that load. And it is always recommended that you use straps in pairs. Now this part is just for a quantity of one strap. If you do need two, we do sell this same part number in a package of two and that's a part number e54PR. It's usually listed on this product page as a related product. But that should do it for the review on this etrailer 10-foot-long cam buckle tie-down strap with a 440-pound working load limit.
