Hello June, hello winter. We had our first frost of the season and I had to move all the ferns to my little conservatory in the making. We are always busy with something and there is always the process.
The bottle lambs are almost a month old now and the chickens are all grown up now. There are sporadic squabbling and hen pecking almost every day.🙈
I’m using the dried lavender in an art project and I’ve also made a brandy hot toddy.
***Rose Brandy Hot Toddy
I used 1 cup of brandy and added 1 cinnamon stick,
a small sprig of rosemary, 1/2 cup of fresh rose petals, 1/4 cup sliced rose hips (without seeds and hair), 1 star anise and 4 cloves. I let that simmer gently on the stove (lowest heat) for 30 minutes.
I remove it from the heat, cover it and let it steep further overnight.
After 24 hours I pour it through a sieve into a dark glass bottle, add 1/3 cup honey and another cup of brandy. I then seal the bottle with a cork.
For hot toddy use 1-2 tablespoons to a cup of boiling water with some lemon juice.
(You can find the original recipe in ‘The Essential Margaret Roberts’, page 129)
Time is never wasted when you use it to create a better environment for your family and for others. Home is a place where busyness is proper, called for, and desperately needed. Don’t neglect to busy yourself with your homemaking.” —Elizabeth George
“Therefore don’t be afraid, you are of more value than many sparrows.”
Matthew 10:31 (World English Bible)
As always, thank you for watching. May you dwell in peace and safety.

“As the years pass, I am coming more and more to understand that it is the common, everyday blessings of our common everyday lives for which we should be particularly grateful. They are the things that fill our lives with comfort and our hearts with gladness -- just the pure air to breathe and the strength to breath it; just warmth and shelter and home folks; just plain food that gives us strength; the bright sunshine on a cold day; and a cool breeze when the day is warm.”
