Health officials are puzzled about the increasing number of cases of invasive Strep A, where the bacteria enters parts of the body where it doesn't normally go, including the bloodstream, muscles and organs. The invasive form of Strep A causes serious infections — the most severe of which are flesh-eating disease and streptococcal toxic shock syndrome.
