Today's oils are not the correct oils for your classic engine. Your classic car or race engine needs ZDDP oil additive, which is an anti-wear, anti-gall additive that has a high zinc content. ZDDP additive was first used as a corrosion inhibitor in oils back in the 1940s. This zinc oil additive was successfully used for decades, in both carbureted and fuel injected engines. In the early 2000's, manufacturers began reducing ZDDP additive levels to meet federal emission requirements. Today, the API's new "SP" oil certification, released in 2020, is the first to NOT be tested on flat tappet or pushrod style engines. Why is that important to you?
