NUMBER 3
This festival is known for its highlight even being tossing tuna? That's right, the Tuna Toss was originally made to promote Australia's tuna industry.
NUMBER 4
This festival originally started as something like a teenage street fight using tomatoes from nearby veggie stalls and turned into the largest tomato war on the face of the Earth. It has become an annual event of tomatoes in the world. It has become a yearly event in a small town in Spain, Bunyol, and has the capacity to drown the whole town in red in a single hour to the extent the fire department needs to come on board to wash everyone off and everything down.
NUMBER 5
This event takes place in the summer, on a yearly basis, in the South of Korea. It's an international mud fight that brings in millions and millions of tourists or visitors from all other parts of the world. On another note, it's origins are for the intents and purposes of marketing vehicles of local cosmetic producers that use the mineral rich mud as ingredients to their products.
NUMBER 6
You're probably aware of this event by this point, where large groups of people celebrate by throwing or smearing colours on each other. While it's difficult to determine whether the colored powder feels better than the previously mentioned tomatoes or mud, it surely looks lifetimes cooler. If it's the type of event that floats your boat, you might want to consider paying India a visit in the time of Spring during the Holi festival. On the minutest details, you'll at least walk out with a multi-colored ti-dye T shirt to go home with.
NUMBER 7
Monkeys are pretty cool to hang out with to start, but how about hanging out with monkeys stuffing their cheeks and bellies at an all you can eat buffet? That's literally what you'll come across should you pay Thailand a November visit. The local people celebrate this bizarre event by laying all sorts and colors of fruits for their monkey pals to feed on. Strangely enough, there is no twist behind this ritual except the alleged attempt to increase the number of tourists visiting on a yearly basis.
NUMBER 8
Instead of asking why, the people in France tend to ask the opposite, why not? This serves almost like the most decent explanation you'll get for the annual festival that takes place in the small town of Trie Sur Baise. However, the truth behind this festival lies in the fact that this town in particular was France's largest market for pigs. Although the business isn't as it used to be, locals seem to still be quite passionate about their pigs.
NUMBER 9
This festival may sound like a vegan horror film to some. It is celebrated in Mexico on a yearly basis before Christmas, where the streetside vendors show their overgrown and oversized radishes, and then continue to mold and sculpt them into the shapes and designs they please.
NUMBER 10
This celebration you may have heard of at the Near Death Festival, held annually in Las Neiva's, Spain. Hundreds and hundreds of people show up in masses to honor Saint Marta de Ribarteme, the Patron saint of resurrection. You shouldn't be surprised should you witness people being carried around in coffins. They very much alive, or, at least, still are. The reason for this is the celebration of a near death experience within the past 12 months they would like to show gratitude for.
