I had a great time riding the EMTB at Dyfi Bike Park, against a snow-capped mountainside landscape.
As it was my first time to visit here, although I have ridden the Dyfi Enduro in 2014 with my son, Sam, this Bike Park demanded more DH skills. This tested me and my bike of choice, the Raymon Fullray 9.0 150E. Yep, a 150mm travel with a 150mm RC2 damped Rock Shox Revelation. I felt overall that the fork was a little overwhelmed by the harder hits but as I fettled with the rebound knob and set a little higher air pressure, it performed well. The Rock Shox Deluxe air can also handled the fades, drops, and jumps with aplomb. To complete the test, however, I need to ride the bike on a trail loop in the coming days, to ensure the motor is still working. It is a replacement motor under warranty. Fingers crossed the rocks at Dyfi didn't cause any issues.
So the only downside was lifting the 26.5kg weight of this small framed Raymon Fullray onto the uplift. I must give credit to the uplift staff, who came to my aid and assisted me with hoisting the awkward bulk up onto the trailer.
Thanks to all the other staff from Ben in sign-on, who gave me first-class advice on which trails to ride based on my skills, and to the friendly staff providing essential fuelling with bolognese with pasta, a sausage bap, and cups of tea and coffee.
