Ling Chi is continuing her back to basics trend building off the last grass orchid video with the next of the Four Gentlemen subjects: Bamboo.
The initial four subjects of studying in Chinese brush painting are often referred to as the "Four Gentlemen." They are grass orchid, bamboo, chrysanthemum, and plum blossom. It is believed that the study of these four subjects helps build the foundational skill to do all other subjects in Chinese brush painting. Each subject represents a season and bamboo is the "Gentleman of Summer."
Ling Chi offers a bit of comparison on different trunk painting techniques using various OAS Brushes. She features the BIFF Brush, the easiest brush for this purpose and also features a 3" Wash brush and a classically shaped brush the OAS Orchid Bamboo Medium.
She finishes with a simple compositions using a single brush. We encourage you to get out your brush, paper and ink and paint along with Ling Chi!
