The northern United States was hit by a thick blanket of snow, with some areas being hit by almost a metre and a half of snowfall. Residents of Erie, Pennsylvania were buried under 1.3 meters of snow, a record for the city. Snow plow drivers have been working around the clock shifting tons of snow as it continues to fall. Snow storms coming from Lake Erie dumped as much as 81cm of snow on Upstate New York. Fire fighters in Ohio braved the blizzard to battle a blaze at a home in Cleveland.
