Viral videos of cars floating in a river in Haridwar have surfaced. According to reports, heavy rains caused the water in the river to swell up dramatically, leading to the washing away of several cars in the floodwater. Dozens of vehicles parked in the Sukhi River were washed away due to the heavy rains. The rainwater also gushed into homes and caused major roads in the pilgrimage town to become waterlogged.
The India Meteorological Department has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Northwest India, including Uttarakhand. The weather office has stated that conditions are favorable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon.
