ABOUT: Dr. Gardner is a graduate of Kalamazoo College and Wayne State University School of Medicine. His Otolaryngology residency was completed at Albany (New York) Medical College. He saw Dr Andrew Blitzer’s early presentations on Spasmodic Dysphonia as a resident in Albany and was exposed to treatment of SD there. He was a fellow in Laryngology and Care of the Professional Voice at the Vanderbilt University Voice Center in Nashville Tennessee where he learned state of the art care of voice disorders including a very busy SD practice. He has been a Senior Staff Laryngologist in the Department of Otolaryngology at the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit since. He has been caring for patients with Spasmodic Dysphonia since his time in Albany in 1992 and, at Henry Ford, has had a very busy SD clinic since 1994, previously collaborating with Dr. Michael Benninger who started the SD clinic and now with Dr. Ross Mayerhoff. He regularly cares for touring singers performing with the Michigan Opera Theater, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, at the Fisher Theater as well as other venues in the Metro Detroit area and locally based singers and other voice professionals. He conducts research, lectures nationally and internationally and publishes regularly on topics related to the larynx and voice.
